Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Rehabilitation Medical-Surgical (Nights)
Location: Windsor, Vermont
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Provide nursing care combining medical-surgical and intensive rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, serious illness, or injury.
- Focus on restoring function and independence through therapies (physical, occupational, speech) and specialized nursing care in an inpatient setting.
- May be asked to serve as backup Charge Nurse.
- Coordinate total nursing care and participate in patient and family teaching.
- Collaborate with ancillary nursing and patient team personnel to maintain professional nursing standards.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 or 1:5.
- Average daily patient census: 22.
- Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.
Work Schedule & Orientation
- Night shift, 12 hours per day.
- 8 hours of non-billable orientation required.
- Strict policy on requested time off (RTO):
- All RTO must be submitted and approved at time of application.
- No more than 5 days of RTO allowed; fewer days preferred.
- RTO requests after offer or interview will not be approved and may lead to rescinded offer.
- Facility enforces a 3-strike call-off policy; after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance.
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible.
- Candidate must have own vehicle due to lack of public transportation.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Hampshire or Compact RN license.
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.
- Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing.
- Prior travel nursing experience of at least 3 months required.
- Charge Nurse experience required.
- Willingness to float between Acute Rehab and Med Surg units as needed within scope of practice.
- Work history and skills checklist for Medical-Surgical nursing current within 1 year must be documented.
- One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.

- This is a small community setting with no public transportation; personal vehicle is mandatory.
