RN Medical/Surgical - Wichita, Kansas

Job Details

  • Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Schedule: Every other weekend; no call
  • Holiday Commitment: Must work both July 4th and Labor Day
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner OneChart
  • Uniform: Ceil blue scrubs required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

  • Professional Documentation:

    • Resume/Profile
    • At least two professional references
    • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and 7-year employment and residence history (updated annually or after >90-day break)
    • Employment verification for past 7 years (updated annually or after >90-day break)
    • Education verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start; rerun if >90-day break)
    • Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment (start/end dates must match system records)
    • Driver’s license or state ID (valid, not expired, matching address requirements)
    • Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
  • Health and Safety:

    • Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years)
    • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.; minimum 80% passing score; updated every 3 years)
    • NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
    • Ascension EKG Exam (passing score of at least 80%, two attempts allowed; updated every 3 years)
    • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training
    • Ascension Cerner Test-Out (training and test results with signed attestation)
    • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical competency; completed within one year of start, updated annually)
    • Ascension 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually; retesting required after >90-day break)
    • Fit Test (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite; updated annually)
    • Health Statement or physical exam (prior to first assignment, updated annually)
  • Immunizations and Testing:

    • MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: Documented proof of two vaccines, serological immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted
    • Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
    • Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing required
    • Tuberculosis Screening:
      • 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes
      • If positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire

Additional Notes

  • Onsite onboarding required for nursing contract workers
  • Various pre-hire modules and attestations must be completed prior to clearance
  • Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start
