Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse

Location: Stuart, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching hospital
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrub Color: White
  • Parking: Free in unrestricted spaces

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Florida
  • Minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience, with recent CVICU experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – must have at time of application
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – must have at time of application
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification – must be obtained prior to start
  • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen including Nicotine (cotinine) – facility is smoke-free, nicotine-free policy strictly enforced

Licensure

  • Active, unrestricted Florida RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 6 months of start date
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)

Onboarding & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start date (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched fully before testing)
  • Pass/Fail testing on EKG and Pharmacology during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)
  • Medication and competency exams as applicable
  • Required acknowledgment of facility safety manual and HIPAA policies

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references within 2 years required for travel nurses
  • Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application; late requests are unlikely to be approved
  • No accommodation for block scheduling
  • Locals accepted at same pay rate

  • Candidates must prioritize completion of time-sensitive onboarding modules once confirmed
  • Facility issues radiation badges if applicable
