Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 3 shifts of 12 hours each, Friday through Sunday
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours
Call Requirements: Approximately 5 or fewer calls every 8 weeks
Weekend Hours: As required by facility
Job Description
- Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Assist with Vascular Surgeon in OR and Hybrid Imaging suite.
- Work collaboratively with a team of nurses and surgical techs for Endovascular and Open cases.
- Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care and maintain professional accountability.
- Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort.
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality.
- Perform duties consistent with nursing practice guidelines, Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and facility standards.
Unit Information
- Main OR with 22 beds, Ambulatory Surgery Center with 8 beds, Orthopedics with 10 beds.
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Equipment includes various types, including DaVinci surgical robot.
- Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
- Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple years of Level 1 trauma experience.
- Highly motivated self-starter personality.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk most of the shift.
- Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs.
- Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment.
- Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, and occasional kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Additional Requirements
- Flu vaccination required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted.
- Dress code requires black scrubs; unprofessional attire such as jeans is not allowed.
