Description
Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse
Location: Torrance, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (5 days a week, 40 hours total)
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, every 4 weeks
- On-Call: Yes
- Territory: Los Angeles County, with travel radius of 5-20 miles
- Caseload: 5-6 patients per day
- Pay Model: Hourly (not per visit)
- Start Time: Must start promptly at 8:00 AM as per contract
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- Mileage: Reimbursed per IRS standard
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Home Health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience managing a high-volume caseload in a Home Health setting
- At least 1 year of total travel nursing experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with OASIS assessments
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Standard background check within one year, updated annually
- DMV search required for Home Health RNs
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks after start
- California Medi-Cal search within 30 days of start and monthly thereafter
- Health Requirements:
- Fit mask test within one year of start (specific N95 masks required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per guidelines
- Immunity or vaccination/declination documentation for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tdap vaccine or declination required
- Drug testing within one year of start, updated annually (Marijuana/THC panel no longer required starting 1/1/24)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for 2025-2026 season with strict deadlines; no exemptions accepted after cutoff date
- COVID vaccine or facility-specific declination form required
- Competency Exams:
- Proof of specialty competency test with a minimum score of 80%, updated every 3 years
- Additional Training/Certifications:
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate required
- Facility-Specific Documents:
- Home Health Acknowledgement signed prior to start
- Safety & Disaster Preparedness Quiz (completed online before start)
- Unit Job Description signed prior to start
- Orientation Module and Instructions Quiz completed before start
- Timekeeping Acknowledgement Form signed prior to start
- Conflict of Interest Policy signed prior to start
- Standards of Behavior signed prior to start
- Social Media Policy signed prior to start
- Meal Break Policy signed prior to start
- Fingernail Hygiene Policy signed prior to start
- Attendance Policy signed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Proof of valid driver’s license (front and back copy) required due to travel demands
- Proof of auto insurance required and must be maintained if it expires during contract
- Candidates must review and comply with the facility’s flu policy and COVID-19 attestation requirements
- Candidates must complete all required quizzes and sign all required documents prior to start
- The position requires punctuality and adherence to scheduled start times and weekend/on-call requirements
This position is ideal for experienced Home Health RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable managing a high volume caseload in Los Angeles County.
