Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in the Emergency Department with a focus on critical care patients.
  • Must be able to care for psychiatric and pediatric patient populations.
  • Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team, communicate clearly and timely.
  • Escalate concerns appropriately to ensure patient safety.
  • May need to float onsite within skill set or to nearby sites within 40 miles as needed.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required.

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin.
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MOAB) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Two MMR vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted).
    • Two Varicella vaccines or documented immunity (no declinations accepted).
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement).
  • Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA test within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Annual fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 or 1870+ masks preferred).
  • Annual 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.

Documentation & Onboarding Requirements

  • Professional resume/profile and at least two professional references.
  • Valid driver’s license or state ID matching address on file.
  • Completion of onboarding education attestations and training modules prior to or at start.
  • Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, and National Sex Offender registry within 30 days of assignment start.
  • Employment and education verifications completed within required timeframes.
  • Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documentation.
  • Forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).

Additional Notes

  • Schedule is every other week (EOW) or based on department needs; every other hour (EOH) rotating with regular staff.
  • Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills are essential.
  • Prior travel experience is required (minimum 2 prior travel contracts).
