Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Modesto, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
• Deliver holistic, individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
• Educate patients and families and manage transitions of care.
• Collaborate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.
• Adhere to hospital policies, industry standards, best practices, and applicable laws to ensure optimal patient experience.

Work Schedule

• Shift: Day shift, 3 x 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday and Sunday; holidays as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Background and Verification Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable.
• Employment history verification covering up to 7 years with no gaps over 30 days; explanations required for gaps over one year.
• Two professional references required within 3 years of hire (Aya requirement only).
• Education verification with preference for Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Primary source license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work).
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (exceptions apply).
• Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years or lifetime TDAP with booster within 10 years.
• Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days) or 2-step PPD with annual renewal.
• Immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or signed declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30).
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law).
• Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person only).
• Respiratory safety clearance annually (not required for RNs).

Certifications and Competencies

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units.
• Pass/fail EKG/medication testing may be required for ICU RNs at certain locations.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certifications may be required depending on position.

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents prior to start, including:

  • Job description
  • Standards of business conduct
  • Vendor training
  • Code of conduct
  • Overpayment refund policy
  • Regulatory orientation for contracted workers
• TB screening questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
• Passport-style photo for badge required.
• Conditional offer of employment attestation must be completed prior to start.
• Religious exemption forms required for facial hair (PAPR) or vaccine exemptions, approved on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Notes

• No return to office (RTO) approved from May through August.
• Weekend and holiday coverage required as noted.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
