Job Description

• Evaluate and treat patients of all ages, modifying plans of care as appropriate.
• Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.
• Perform patient transfers with assistance as needed, using safe body mechanics.
• Design and adjust plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans.
• Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
• Evaluate clinical findings to determine physical therapy diagnoses and outcomes.
• Perform examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to patient complaints and history.
• Produce documentation in accordance with clinical process policies and regulatory standards.
• Screen patients to determine the need and effectiveness of therapy services.
• Use and supervise support personnel according to legal and ethical guidelines.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and medical teams throughout rehabilitation.
• Provide supervision to PT assistants and rehabilitation technicians.
• Utilize standardized outcome measures to accurately reflect functional performance.
• Communicate patient status, transfer recommendations, discharge disposition, and equipment needs clearly with the medical team.

Patient Population & Setting

• Inpatient acute care setting at a Level 1 Trauma center (~500 beds).
• 20-bed inpatient rehab unit with >50% neurological cases (stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury), lower extremity amputation, multi-trauma.
• Caseload of approximately 190 patients on acute physical therapy.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapist license in Illinois
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
• Experience in supervisory roles
