Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Shift Details

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week (3x12-hour shifts)
  • Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Unit and Patient Population

  • Med/Surg Telemetry unit
  • Potential to float to units J1-2, J33, and Emergency Department caring for the same patient population

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Telemetry experience
  • Telemetry experience within the last year
  • Current certifications:
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • ACLS
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, county, state, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months of start, updated annually (code 4723.09 for nursing)
  • Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start
  • Nursys verification within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with annual TB questionnaire if past positive)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titers with booster if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Baseline competency exams during orientation:
    • Medication administration exam (SafeMedicate) – 90% passing score required
    • ECG interpretation exam – 80% passing score required
  • Modules and exams not required for legacy candidates or agency flips with less than 6 months gap between contracts
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background)

References and Work History

  • Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete fingerprinting both through the agency and at the facility
  • Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Travelers must be prepared to float to other units as needed within the same patient population
  • Must comply with all health and safety requirements, including immunizations and drug screening
  • Must be willing to work at least every other holiday during the assignment

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs seeking a travel contract with night shifts in a large acute care setting.
