Job Opportunity: Case Manager (Registered Nurse)
Location: Fountain Valley, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Weekend Commitment: Every other weekend required (weekend hours 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Schedule Type: Block scheduling
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required
- Workweek: 40 hours (5x8 hour shifts)
- Unit Focus: Medical/Surgical, Cardiac, Vascular, with some Neurology cases
- Documentation System: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Case Management experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with floating between units
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- N95 Fit Mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (no onsite fit testing)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years, declination allowed)
- Negative TB test (QGOLD, TSPOT, or 2-Step PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
- TB Questionnaire (annual)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster if low/equivocal titer)
- Hepatitis B Surface Antibody titer (declination allowed if low/equivocal)
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (declination allowed if low/equivocal)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine required November 1 – April 30 (declination allowed with masking)
- COVID vaccination record preferred
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (urine or saliva; marijuana panel excluded per California law)
Documentation and Onboarding Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Emergency Contact Form
- Background Check (standard 7-year search including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- State License Verification and NURSYS verification for RN license
- Photo for badge
- Completion of EPIC Education Modules (approx. 8 hours, must be completed prior to or shortly after start)
- Completion of YouLearn Modules assigned by facility
- HIPAA Education Module (must be completed before EPIC modules)
- Review and sign facility-specific policies and acknowledgments including:
- Safe Patient Handling Quiz
- Adult Abuse and Assault Reporting
- Child Abuse Reporting
- Domestic Violence and Spousal Abuse Reporting
- Elder and Dependent Abuse Reporting
- Hazardous Material Acknowledgment
- Employee Parking Permit
- Orientation Quiz
- Unit-specific Skills Checklist (annual update)
- Employment Application
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- First-time travel nurses are accepted
- Pre-approved time off must be requested at time of submission and is at manager’s discretion
- Performance evaluations and orientation packets are completed post-start and do not affect clearance
- Masking required for non-flu vaccinated staff during flu season
- Facility uses EPIC for documentation and requires completion of related training modules
- Floating between units is required
This position offers a structured day shift schedule with a focus on medical-surgical and cardiac patient care, requiring solid RN experience and multiple certifications. Candidates must be prepared for comprehensive onboarding and compliance with facility-specific policies and health requirements.
