Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience for a travel contract position. The role requires working night shifts with options for 4x12, 3x12, or 2x12 schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background checks including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) must be current and updated annually.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and results must be on file prior to contract extension.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunization and health requirements:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed.
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination.
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer with booster if needed.
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required annually (no declinations accepted).
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
- Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) are completed during orientation.
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided for exam preparation.
- Badge photo required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).
References & Work History
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start date (manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar specialty area.
Additional Notes
- All requirements and scheduling details are non-negotiable and must be confirmed at submission.
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
- Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months at this facility may need to retake orientation modules and competency exams.
- Candidates must ensure legal name consistency across all documentation.
Summary
This travel RN position requires a highly experienced Med/Surg Telemetry nurse with current Ohio licensure, certifications, and compliance with extensive health and background requirements. Night shift availability and successful completion of orientation assessments are mandatory.
