Description
NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Voorhees, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Overview
- Every weekend required plus one weekday shift; block scheduling not allowed.
- Floating required within 5 hospitals based on needs (within skillset).
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients.
- Practice includes couplet care with a dedicated Stork RN on each shift.
- No on-call duties.
- Epic electronic health record experience preferred.
- Navy blue scrubs required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
- Minimum of 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year.
- Experience working with neonate patients.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications & Compliance
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit assignment.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required if applicable to unit.
- Current BLS and NRP certifications must not expire within 30 days of contract start.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG required.
- Education verification (diploma/transcript acceptable).
- NURSYS verification required for RN license.
- Facility-specific documents including badge photo and non-employee access forms must be completed by deadlines.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within the last 12 months.
- Fit mask test must be completed at the facility’s Occupational Health within the first week of assignment; outside fit tests not accepted.
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year; chest x-ray and annual TB questionnaire required for positive responders.
- Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer or declination accepted)
- Varicella
- Annual 10-panel drug screen (without THC panel) within 6 months of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required by October 31 (exemptions considered case-by-case; declinations not accepted).
- Visual acuity exam (20/40 or better).
- Latex questionnaire required.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within the last 2 years.
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually).
- Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start date (NJ state mandate).
Important Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) documentation required at time of submission; no RTO accepted after submission.
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the hospital may have different local rate considerations (not included here).
- Candidates cannot start if any required certification or fit test expires within 30 days of contract start.
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs comfortable with weekend work, floating between multiple hospitals, and caring for high-acuity neonatal patients including micro preemies requiring advanced respiratory support.
