Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical/Telemetry (Night Shift)

Location: Fort Madison, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM

Job Overview

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
• Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Care for patient populations including Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
• Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to continue working on the telemetry/medical-surgical unit.
• May be required to float occasionally to nearby campuses.
• May be placed on call during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive onsite within one hour.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• The assignment is a night shift position on a Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit.
• The traveler will not be part of a regular call rotation but must be available for occasional call-in.
• Must be able to pass a dysrhythmia test during the first week to continue working on the telemetry unit.
