ICU Registered Nurse Travel Opportunity
Location: San Luis Obispo, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: ICU with 11 private rooms
- Shift: Nights (6 PM to 6 AM)
- Hours per week: 36 (12-hour shifts)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1 to 1:2
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday schedule: Rotates with permanent staff
- Floating: May float to Telemetry (1:4 ratio) or Medical-Surgical (1:5 ratio)
- Orientation: 2 shifts floor-specific orientation
- Charge nurse role available with a small patient load
- EMR system: Cerner
- Monitor tech on day shift; nurses read telemetry strips during night shift
- Respiratory Therapist available 24/7
- PICC line team available; no IV team
- Pharmacy not 24/7; night shift nurses may mix medications
- Common patient diagnoses: open heart surgery, general surgery, stroke, STEMI, chest tubes, arterial lines, swan-ganz catheters, CRRT, impellas
- Balloon pumps not assigned to travelers
- No neuro patients on unit
Required Qualifications
- Active California RN license
- Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Experience with chest tubes, arterial lines, and swan-ganz catheters required
- Prior travel experience preferred
Additional Information
- Scrub color: Navy
- Intensivist on call after 5 PM
- Nurses responsible for reading telemetry strips during night shift
- Floating schedule includes every other weekend first to float
