Description
Physical Therapist - Therapy Acute
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Health
Shift: Day
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Evaluate and treat patients of all ages, modifying plans of care as needed.
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.
- Design and adjust plans of care integrating goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans.
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
- Perform examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to patient complaints and history.
- Produce documentation in compliance with clinical policies and regulatory standards.
- Supervise physical therapist assistants (PTA) and rehabilitation technicians according to regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and medical teams throughout rehabilitation, communicating patient status and recommendations clearly.
Patient Population & Setting
- Inpatient acute care with a caseload of approximately 190 patients.
- 20-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit with over 50% neuro cases (e.g., CVA, TBI, SCI), lower extremity amputation, multi-trauma, and other complex conditions.
- Level 1 Trauma center environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Illinois
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in supervisory roles

- Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
