Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU
Location
- Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Unit and Facility Information
- Acute care facility with 47 beds
- PACU / Preop unit located on the 3rd floor
- Unit has 3 beds with patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2
- Patient population primarily adult; ENT cases once a month
- Electronic Health Records used: CQI, Medhost
Work Schedule
- Day shift with some call on nights and weekends
- Approximately 40 hours per week guaranteed
- On-call coverage required; must be able to report within 30 minutes of notification
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in PACU
- Prior PACU experience is mandatory
- Preferred experience includes both Preop and PACU
Job Responsibilities and Expectations
- Shared position between PACU and Preop units; no expectation to float to other units
- Care for patients undergoing procedures such as appendectomy and gallbladder surgery
Dress Code and Professional Standards
- No open-toed shoes or fake fingernails allowed
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Minimum 2 years of recent PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
