Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
Unit Description
- Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU) with 48 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 on both day and night shifts
- Care for highly acute cardiac progressive patients in a fast-paced environment
- Patient population includes those with Heart Failure, ACS/AMI, STEMI, post-cath care, cardiac arrhythmias, pacemaker/defibrillator placement, pre-surgical care (VAD, transplant, CABG), pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac drips
- Joint Commission Certified Advanced Heart Failure PCCU
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiac PCU - Progressive Care Unit, with experience within the last year
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings:
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by provider (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine: Optional, but mask required if declined during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Tuberculosis screening:
- 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes
- If positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit test for respiratory protection (preferred prior to start, can be done onsite)
- Annual 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
Documentation and Onboarding Requirements
- Submission required prior to assignment:
- Resume/Profile
- License/Certificate verification and Nursys verification
- Two professional references
- Driver’s license or state ID (valid, matching address requirements)
- Onboarding requirements to be completed onsite or prior to start:
- Signed assignment agreement
- Pharmacology, Medical Surgical, EKG exams
- Core competencies and NIH certification
- Color vision test
- Health statement or physical exam (updated annually)
- Criminal background check including Social Security trace, OIG search, National Sex Offender registry, and EPLS (updated annually or after break in service)
- Employment and education verifications (updated annually or after break in service)
- Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters)
- Confirmation of assignment documentation
