Description

RN Medical/Surgical - Wichita, Kansas

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: Every other weekend, no call
EHR System: Cerner OneChart
Uniform: Blue scrubs required
Holiday Commitment: Required for elevated rate


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical unit.
  • Work night shift with every other weekend schedule.
  • Utilize Cerner OneChart electronic health record system.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification
  • MOAB Moderate Risk De-Escalation Training
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

Professional Documentation

  • Resume/Profile required for submission.
  • At least two professional references required prior to first assignment.
  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 90 days of start.
  • Employment verification for past seven years required.
  • Signed assignment agreement required for onboarding.
  • Completion of onboarding education attestation and nursing contract worker onboarding onsite.
  • Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters).

Health & Safety

  • Ascension Color Vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Core Competencies completed within a year of start and updated every 3 years (minimum 80% passing score, max 2 attempts).
  • Ascension EKG Exam with passing score of at least 80%, updated every 3 years.
  • Ascension Cerner Test-Out with signed attestation required.
  • Ascension Skills Checklist completed within one year of start and updated annually.
  • Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
  • Fit Test required prior to start or onsite (annual update).
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • MMR: documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations).
    • Varicella: documented proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by provider (no declinations).
    • Tdap: valid within 10 years (no declinations).
    • Hepatitis B: vaccination series completion or signed declination.
    • Influenza vaccine optional; if declined during flu season, mask required.
    • TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.

Additional Notes

  • Driver’s license or state ID must be current, show front and back, and address must match licensing requirements.
  • Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start.
  • Extensions require updated documentation and confirmation of assignment.
