Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Martinsville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Facility & Unit Overview
- Acute-care hospital with 220 licensed beds
- Emergency Department with 34 beds
- Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Serves all age groups (pediatric, adult, geriatric)
- Electronic Health Record system: Medhost
- Common diagnoses treated: Chest Pain, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Psychiatric cases
- Shift: 36 hours per week, weekend hours as needed every other weekend
- Call requirements: As needed
- Float requirements: As needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Handle with Care certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification
Orientation & Compliance
- Orientation offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays
- Must consent to random drug screening and complete a criminal questionnaire/consent form
- Random drug screens conducted on site
Work Environment & Culture
- Professional, positive, compassionate, and team-oriented culture
- Dress code: Scrubs of any color allowed; casual wear is not acceptable
