Unit and Facility Information

  • Unit: 5A Medical-Surgical
  • Number of beds: 24
  • Patient ratio: 1:6
  • Patient population: All ages
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Meditech
  • Shift hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed
  • Weekend hours: Every other weekend / as needed
  • Call requirements: As needed
  • Float requirements: As needed

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Registered Nurse license valid in Virginia
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • HWC (Health Workforce Credential) available on-site
  • NIH certification

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
  • Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

  • Orientation offered bi-weekly on Tuesdays
  • Random drug screening and criminal background consent required prior to start
  • Dress code: Scrubs of any color; no casual wear allowed
  • Professional demeanor expected
