Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – CVICU (Cardiac ICU)

Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 – 7:30)
- 36 hours per week total
- Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
- Weekdays and some weekends; rotating holidays
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
Patient Ratio
- Estimated 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratio
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Proficient in IV start
- Experience with telemetry (Tele) monitoring
- Skilled in ventilator (Vents) management
- Experience with Swan-Ganz catheter (Swanz)
- Knowledge of conscious sedation procedures
- Experience managing balloon pumps
- Skilled in pulmonary artery (PA) line management
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Certifications (Unit-Specific)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required prior to start
- Competency Exam: Unit-specific exam required
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, PALS, NRP, EFM) – verify per assignment
Background and Credentialing Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations or titers required:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption requires documentation
- Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series; declination accepted
- Tdap: Adult dose required (not Td or DTaP); no exemptions if working with infants or pregnant patients
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination with mask requirement during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Fit mask test (N95) required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 and beyond
Orientation and Compliance
- Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policy
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually
Parking
- Parking permits available for purchase (costs and options subject to change)
