Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Unit and Patient Population

• Units: Labor & Delivery (L&D), Nursery, Post-Partum (float required)
• OB 3rd floor, Level 3 OB trauma designation
• Patient volume: Less than 15 deliveries per month
• Beds: 3 L&D, 9 OB, 14 Nursery, 3 Intermediate Nursery
• Patient population: Obstetrics and newborn care

Schedule

• Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM (night shift)
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours included
• No call requirements

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Intermediate fetal monitoring or above
• STABLE certification for nursery care

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• NRP certification
• STABLE certification
• Membership or familiarity with AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

• Must be able to float to Nursery and Post-Partum units if census requires
• Patient ratios follow A1 Guidelines
• Electronic Health Record system: Meditech
• Typical diagnoses and treatments include OB delivery and nursery care
• The OB unit generally has low volume

This position is ideal for RNs with solid OB and nursery experience seeking a travel assignment on night shift with a moderate patient volume in a Level 3 OB setting.
