Registered Nurse (ER) - Wisconsin, Ladysmith
Job Details
- Specialty: Emergency Room (ER)
- Location: Ladysmith, Wisconsin
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights (7pm - 7am)
- Hours: 12 hours per shift, approximately 36 hours per week
- Unit Orientation: Yes, unit/department specific orientation provided
- Scheduling: No self-scheduling; block scheduling attempted but flexible based on vacation requests
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every third holiday
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: Not required but beneficial to float to med/surg if needed
- Dress Code: No specific scrub color or dress code
Facility & Work Environment
- Trauma Level IV; does not receive STEMI patients and is not a stroke center
- ER has 8 total beds (2 trauma bays, plus 4 OR beds used for overflow)
- No fast track area; urgent care available in ER during limited hours
- No separate triage area; nurses are expected to triage patients in ER rooms
- No separate holding area; no separate psych/seclusion rooms (behavioral health room doubles as general treatment)
- No 24/7 in-house security in ER
- Average patient volume: ~22 patients per day
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: Approximately 1:4, depending on acuity
- Charge nurse takes an assignment
- Nurse aides (CAN) may assist with IV starts, EKGs, sitter duties, etc., at times
- No Respiratory Therapist (RT) coverage in ER; RNs must be knowledgeable in ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow oxygen, and troubleshooting (training provided)
- No monitor techs; RNs read their own telemetry strips
- X-ray and CT available in-house 24/7; no dedicated transport team
- Labs drawn by both phlebotomy and RNs

- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
