Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Crescent City, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (9:30 AM – 10:00 PM)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of RN experience as per manager
- Schedule: Every other weekend required
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – valid for 4 years
- State RN License – primary source verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start
- Additional certifications may be required based on position (verify with manager)
Required Background and Compliance Checks
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
- FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter (or equivalent checks if FACIS III cannot be run)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
- Sex offender search within 90 days of start
- TB Screening Questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must indicate cleared for work)
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations considered for religious exemptions or failed tests)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – proof of immunity or vaccination required
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) or signed declination
- Respiratory Safety clearance, renewed annually
Required Documentation
- Full 7 years of work history with no gaps, including city and state of employment
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (clinical/allied/per diem acute care)
- Signed facility-specific documents including:
- Job description
- Standards of Business Conduct
- Vendor training and Code of Conduct (for current and future years)
- Overpayment refund policy
- Conditional offer of employment attestation
- TB questionnaire
- Religious accommodation forms if applicable
Additional Notes
- ICU and telemetry RNs at certain locations may be required to take EKG competency exams onsite after start
- Candidates with positive TB history require a negative chest x-ray within 1 year of start
- Religious and medical exemptions for immunizations and fit testing are considered on a case-by-case basis with required documentation
- Candidates must review and comply with facility-specific policies such as parking and dress code prior to start
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS certification
- Current PALS certification
- Current TNCC certification
