Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
- Rotating day/night shifts (7pm–7:30am and 7am–7:30pm); shift flexibility required to meet operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam (SafeMedicate) with required passing scores.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience.
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Current certifications:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week.
- Night and day shifts rotate (3 shifts per week).
- Shift times:
- Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 48 hours of contract signing; must be updated annually.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.
- Two professional references from within one year of start date required.
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start; must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
- Modules include mandatory training videos and tests; skipping videos will result in lockout.
- SafeMedicate preparation materials provided before orientation.
- Baseline competency exams on medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation.
- Return candidates with less than 6 months gap may be exempt from some orientation testing.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must have legal name consistency across all documents.
- Candidates with latex allergies must notify facility to ensure availability of latex-free gloves.
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines and fit testing require agency approval and facility review.
- Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility.
- Candidates starting extensions must have all required documentation current and on file.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs who meet the licensing, certification, and health compliance requirements and are flexible with rotating shifts and holiday work.
