Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Mother-Baby

Location: Weston, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days and Nights (12-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 36 hours (variable scheduling)


Unit Overview

  • Labor & Delivery/Postpartum/Mother-Baby unit with 11 total beds
  • 1 OR suite for C-sections
  • 1 triage bed
  • Approximately 320 births per year
  • Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios
  • No antepartum patients on this unit
  • No nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit
  • Charge nurse and house supervisor present; charge nurse takes assignment but agency nurses will not be charge nurse
  • OB physician and anesthesia available in-house 24/7
  • Respiratory therapy available in-house for special care nursery babies
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) systems: Novii and GE

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Patient Care & Skills

  • Care for vaginal births, C-sections, inductions, special care nursery, and hysterectomy patients
  • Experience with Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) and C-sections (recover unless under general anesthesia) required
  • RNs required to titrate epidurals and IV medications to induce labor
  • No requirement to read telemetry strips or monitor tech duties

Scheduling & Work Environment

  • Self-scheduling with 12-hour shifts
  • Night shifts are the biggest need but schedule can be variable
  • No call required, but call shift requirements exist
  • Weekend work every third weekend
  • Holiday work every other holiday
  • Floating to other units allowed as staffing permits, but not as primary nurse
  • Hospital-supplied scrubs
  • Unit-specific orientation: 2 shifts

Additional Notes

  • Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
  • If previously employed at this facility, must have a minimum 6-month gap before reapplying
