Description
Surgical Tech - OR Tech
Location: Sacramento, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Work in a hospital operating room setting with 9 OR suites and 1 cysto suite.
- Average of 30 cases per day.
- Shift: Days, Monday to Friday, 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM (8-hour shifts).
- Call required on weekends and as needed; call response time is 30 minutes.
- Floating between Main OR and Outpatient Surgery only; no floating to other facilities.
- Orientation: 1-2 days in OR with a preceptor.
- Scrub color/dress code provided.
- EMR system used: Cerner.
Common Cases
- Main OR: Total hips/knees, general surgery, daVinci robotic cases, neuro, urology, pediatric dental (some Fridays, 1:1 with kids).
- Outpatient Surgery: Appendectomies, cataract surgery, retina, gynecology, orthopedic, podiatry, plastic surgery, endoscopy with anesthesia/procedural sedation, general surgery (lap chole, breast biopsy, hemorrhoidectomy), some urology, pain procedures (circulating), ENT for adults and pediatrics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an OR Tech.
- Active BLS certification.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
- Must provide 2 supervisory references at time of submittal: one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years.
- Valid government-issued ID matching the name on application documentation.
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by the associated health system within the past year; PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable.
Additional Information
- Call and holiday call requirements rotate with core staff.
- Scrubbing by RNs is not required.
- Candidates are sent directly to the manager.
- Must be proficient and able to work independently across all service lines: Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Robotics, and General Surgery.
