Description
Respiratory Care Practitioner
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform routine and critical respiratory care procedures under supervision.
- Provide care for Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.
- Evaluate patient respiratory care results according to care plans.
- Prepare, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment; report malfunctions.
- Accurately document respiratory care procedures, patient responses, and compliance in the EMR.
- Complete assessments on ventilator and other respiratory care patients.
- Recommend timely interventions or referrals as needed.
- Evaluate patients for respiratory therapy in inpatient units and Emergency Room.
- Obtain and analyze arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases.
- Assist with cleaning and stocking respiratory care equipment and supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Illinois
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, including experience within the last year
- NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
- BLS Certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy

- Clinical judgment and technical skills in respiratory care.
- Proficient in EMR documentation.
- Patient assessment and care plan evaluation.
- Blood gas analysis.
- Equipment maintenance.

- Night shift schedule.
- No on-call duties.
