    Description

    Registered Nurse - Operating Room

    Location: Marina del Rey, California
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Details

    • Shift: 12-hour day shifts (start times at 6:15 AM or 8:00 AM)
    • Weekly Hours: 36 hours (3 shifts per week)
    • Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend 24-hour call per month
    • On-Call Requirement: Approximately 1 weekday per week (6:45 PM to 6:15 AM) and 1 weekend day per month (24-hour call)
    • Floating Requirement: Yes
    • Scheduling requests cannot be accommodated

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
    • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Harassment Prevention Training Certificate
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

    Certifications & Competencies

    • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% passing score; 2 attempts allowed)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for all RNs except OR RNs; must be completed within 3 days of start
    • Pass/Fail EKG assessment during orientation (varies by unit)
    • Fire Card: LA County Fire Card required within 30 days of start (onsite course provided if not obtained prior)
    • Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (must be current and on file)
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NIH Stroke Certification) – verify with unit job description

    Health & Background Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
    • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 or equivalent)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; if history of positive TB, additional documentation required
    • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
      • Measles (Rubeola)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, titer, or declination)
      • Varicella
    • Drug screening panel within 1 year of start (specific substances required; marijuana/THC excluded)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - March 31); no declinations accepted

    Documentation & Compliance

    • Government-issued photo ID required
    • Two professional references required, both supervisory, verified within 1 year
    • Background check including 7-year county residence, nationwide, sex offender, and federal district court searches
    • Education verification of highest level completed
    • Photo for badge must meet strict facility requirements (passport-style photo)
    • Completion of facility-specific documents including code of conduct, attendance policy, job hazard acknowledgment, and scheduling guidelines
    • Completion of required modules and timecard submission as instructed

    Additional Notes

    • Candidate must be prepared for mandatory on-call and floating duties
    • No scheduling accommodations will be made
    • Orientation includes competency testing and may include onsite courses (e.g., fire card)
    • All certifications and health documents must be current and uploaded prior to or shortly after start date as specified

    This position is ideal for experienced California-licensed RNs comfortable with operating room duties, on-call responsibilities, and working in a fast-paced hospital environment with electronic health record proficiency.
