Description
Registered Nurse - PACU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (11:00 AM – 11:30 PM) with on-call responsibilities
- On-call: 2 weeknight 8-hour shifts and 1 weekend 12-hour shift every 6 weeks (including 1 summer and 1 winter on-call shift)
- Possible floating to Tabor GI or pain center
- Patient population: Adults and Pediatrics
- Charting system: Cerner Aecis Surgi Net
- Scrubs provided
- Block scheduling not accommodated

Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), with at least 1 year of recent PACU experience
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
Required Certifications
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Required Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Pennsylvania (Primary source verification required)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background check: 7-year criminal history including PA PATCH search, education verification, and other standard checks
- E-Verify compliance required
- Fingerprinting: Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprint results within 5 years, updated every 5 years (required for PA placements)
- Education verification or official transcript (transcript acceptable in lieu of diploma)
- Physical exam within 2 months of start date
- Fit test for N95 mask (3M 1870+ model) within 12 months prior to start (must be completed before start)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Current Tdap vaccine or titer
- Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 1)
- COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; medical/religious exemptions accepted with masking requirements
Orientation & Training
- Completion of assigned educational modules prior to orientation (approx. 6 hours)
- Pass/fail dysrhythmia exam during orientation (one attempt only)
- Signed acknowledgements for safety manual and pass/fail testing required
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within 2 years of start date
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Work history verification as applicable
- Pennsylvania child abuse clearance within 12 months prior to start (required if working with minors)
Notes
- Return to Office (RTO) documentation required at time of submission; no exceptions after submission
- Facility will not allow start without all required background and clearance results on file
- No block scheduling available for this assignment
