Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years working in one location
- At least 2 years NICU experience required
Shift Details
- 36 hours per week
- Night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
- Evening and night shifts do not rotate
- Day shifts rotate between 7 AM-7 PM, 11 AM-11 PM, and 7 PM-7 AM with 1 night of call
Unit Description
- 25-bed unit including Labor & Delivery (L&D), Postpartum (PP), Newborn Nursery (NBN), 2 Operating Rooms (ORs), 2 Antepartum Nursery (ANU) rooms, and Recovery Room (RR)
- Average daily census: 15-25 mothers, babies, and laboring patients
Patient Ratios
- L&D: 1:2-3 for evaluations, 1:1 for active labor, magnesium drip, or epidural
- Postpartum: 1:3-4
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Required Licenses
- Valid RN license for Massachusetts (no conditional licenses accepted)
- Primary source verification required through NURSYS and Board of Nursing
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System
- EPIC
Required Health and Compliance Checks
- N95 fit test within 365 days prior to start, updated annually (no onsite fit testing)
- Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) attestation
- MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
- TB screening: skin test or blood test within 3 months of start, updated if break >6 months
- Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start
- Criminal background check including Massachusetts CORI within 45 days prior to start
- Social Security Number trace and education verification
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Documentation of two references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher in the skillset
- Submission of resume with 7 years of work experience and education details (city and state)
- Completion of medication exam with 80% passing score within 365 days
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission
- Confirmation of assignment form required upon acceptance and for extensions
- Name change documentation if applicable
Floating and Rotation
- Floating not required
- Rotating shifts required for day shifts only; evenings and nights fixed
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with strong skills in special care nursery and newborn care, comfortable working night shifts and every other weekend, and meeting all licensure and certification requirements.
