Description

Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Rotating Day/Night shifts (12-hour shifts, 7:00am–7:30pm or 7:00pm–7:30am)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
  • Shifts may be variable to meet operational needs; facility will attempt to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication administration exam (SafeMedicate); passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Current certifications required:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale).

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
  • Background checks including:
    • FCRA-compliant 7-year search (criminal, education verification, sex offender registry, etc.)
    • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
    • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
  • Education verification required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history positive
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted).
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year.
  • Two professional references from within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for medication competency exam.
  • Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) required at orientation with minimum passing scores (90% medication, 80% ECG).
  • Candidates with less than 6 months gap since last assignment at this facility may be exempt from some orientation testing.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for potential floating to other units caring for similar patient populations.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and again at the facility.
  • Candidates with facial hair failing fit mask testing must shave or submit approved medical/religious exemptions.
  • All documentation must be current and compliant prior to start.
  • Candidates are responsible for timely completion of all onboarding requirements to avoid delays.
