Job Opportunity: RN First Assist and Circulator
Location
- Northampton, Massachusetts

Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Schedule
- Four 10-hour shifts per week (4x10s)
- On-call two days per week from 5 PM (or end of shift) to 7 PM
- One weekend on-call every three weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 24 hours/day)
Job Description
- Role split approximately 50% circulating nurse and 50% RN First Assist
- Assist surgeon in a lead role until the conclusion of operative procedures
- May circulate during some cases
- Work under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Operating Room
- Must have experience in both circulating and first assisting
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 5 years of First Assist experience, including experience within the last year
- Perioperative nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Additional Requirements
- Must submit a professional color photo (no selfies, filters, or headwear; plain background)
- Fit test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date (no onsite testing; must use specific form)
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation required if fit test is needed
- Documentation of immunity or vaccination for MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
- TB test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test), updated if break >6 months
- Physician health statement within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, including Massachusetts CORI and national sex offender registry checks
- Exclusion checks against OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid lists within 30 days prior to start and annually
- Verification of highest education level completed
- Submission of a detailed resume covering the past 7 years, including city and state for all work and education
- Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher in the relevant skillset
- Completion of a skills checklist within 1 year of submission
- Confirmation of Assignment/POI form required upon acceptance and for any extensions
- Name change documentation if legal name differs from credential documents
Shift Hours
- 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
This position requires a highly experienced peri-operative nurse with strong skills in both circulating and first assisting roles, holding current Massachusetts RN licensure and relevant certifications. The schedule includes extended shifts with on-call responsibilities, including weekends. Compliance with comprehensive credentialing, health, and background verification processes is mandatory.
