Job Responsibilities and Skills

• Involve patients and/or significant others in care decisions
• Assess and document educational needs and learning abilities of patients/families during admission and ongoing assessments
• Document nursing diagnoses, interventions, and goals/outcomes with target dates in the care plan
• Perform patient handoffs using safety tools (e.g., SBAR, Report at Bedside) for shift-to-shift and interdepartmental communication
• Maintain effective communication through the chain of command
• Communicate subjective and objective patient/family data with multidisciplinary team members
• Stay current with unit huddles, emails, and other communications
• Facilitate communication of pertinent findings and participate in physician rounds
• Participate in process improvement activities such as data collection, in-services, and meetings
• Float to other units as required

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Ambulatory Surgery experience
• Pre-Op experience
• PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Valid Driver's License
