Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor - Fairview, Pennsylvania
Job Overview
- Position: RN Supervisor in a Long-Term Care (LTC) / Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
- Facility Size: 300 beds divided into 6 units (including secure dementia and a currently closed COVID unit)
- Shift: Nights
- Hours: Approximately 8 hours per day, 38 hours per week
- Contract Length: 15 weeks
Unit and Staffing
- RN Supervisor oversees the entire building during evenings, nights, and weekends
- Supervises floor nurses including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs; not assigned direct resident care tasks
- Staffing includes Charge Nurses and Med/Treatment Nurses on each unit
- Majority of floor nurses are LPNs
- No floating required as the RN Supervisor covers the entire building
Patient Population
- Residents aged 18+ in LTC, skilled nursing, rehab, and secure dementia units
- Hospice care provided with dedicated hospice rooms
- Common diagnoses include chronic and rehabilitative conditions; wound measurement required (staging done by NP)
Required Certifications and Experience
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum of 1 year of Long Term Care experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS Certification
Job Responsibilities
- Building supervision during assigned shifts
- Resource and support for nursing staff and CNAs
- Monitor resident condition changes and issues
- Coordinate outside services (labs, portable x-rays, etc.)
- Contact physicians or nurse practitioners for resident needs after hours via chain of command
- Perform specialized nursing tasks: central line care, chest tube management, IV starts, admission orders, fall assessments
Work Environment and Scheduling
- 8.25-hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Weekend work every other weekend, with option for additional shifts
- Holiday work required if scheduled; schedule provided two weeks in advance
- No call or standby duties; work scheduled shifts without early release
- Dress code: professional scrubs of any color except camouflage
- Orientation: 3 days specific to unit/department
Additional Information
- EMR system used: PCC
- Pharmacy available weekdays during business hours; emergency drug closet accessible after hours
- No respiratory therapist on site; residents may use CPAP, BiPAP, oxygen, nebulizers, inhalers, and tracheostomy care (no ventilators)
- Interdisciplinary team includes PT, OT, SLP, case managers, social workers, and dieticians
- Badge replacement fee applies if lost
