Facility Overview

• 107-bed, all-private rooms
• Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospital
• Sole acute care provider in the county
• Services include inpatient and outpatient care, birthing center, wound care, and accredited chest pain center

Role Summary

• Director-level position reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
• Oversees Operating Room (OR) department including 5 OR suites and 1 SPR/Cath lab
• Departments reporting to this role: SDS/SPD and OR (ENDO department has separate supervisor)
• Case types managed: ENT, Plastics, Orthopedics, Urology, Vascular, OB/GYN, Cardiology, General Surgery, Pain Management, Podiatry, Neurosurgery
• Call schedule: Weekday call from 3 PM to 6 AM; 24-hour call coverage on weekends with rotating weekend shifts
• Elective surgeries on weekends are rare; staff often come in for emergent cases
• Works closely with physicians and anesthesia providers; anesthesia department is actively recruiting additional staff
• Block scheduling is used
• Surgery start time: 7:30 AM; first case on-time start rate is 39% (cardio cases often delayed due to heart cath scheduling)
• Staff includes 8 circulators, 12 surgical techs, 4 SPD staff, 1 supply charge person, 1 transport, 1 clerk, and 7 SDS/PACU nurses
• No robotics equipment in use
• Electronic Health Record system: MEDITECH and paper charting
• Limited managerial support in departments; only ENDO has a supervisor with manager access

Key Objectives

• Improve throughput scheduling

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Strong background in healthcare operations
