Description
Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (4 days a week, 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week)
- Staffing Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- On Call: Required approximately 2 weekends every 6 weeks (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), sometimes 3 weekends with vacation
- Holiday Requirement: 1 winter and 1 summer holiday
- Floating: No floating required
- Charting System: Epic
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the specialty
- Experience in a Level II Trauma setting required
- Must be able to scrub and circulate in Cardiac Surgery
- Cardiac surgery experience required with procedures including:
- CABGs
- Aortic and Mitral Valve repairs/replacements
- Heart transplants
- Aortic dissections
- LVADs (Left Ventricular Assist Devices)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – preferred; trauma certifications from previous facilities may be accepted with approval
- Pass/Fail Basic Dysrhythmia Exam during orientation (one attempt only)
- NIH Stroke Certification (counts toward required Stroke CEUs if completed within 1 year)
- Annual CEUs:
- 8 Stroke Contact Hours for all RNs within 1 year of start
- 8 Trauma Contact Hours for OR RNs within 1 year of start (unless TNCC/trauma course completed within 1 year)
Licensure
- Must hold a Pennsylvania or Compact RN license at time of submission
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start (no annual update required)
- Fit test (3M 1870+ model) within 12 months prior to start; must be completed before start (no on-site testing)
- Current Tdap vaccine or titer
- Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT) within 90 days of start; chest X-ray if positive test
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations required (2 vaccines or positive titer, or declination/booster if applicable):
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (9-panel without THC acceptable)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/1 to 4/1)
- COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; exemptions require mask protocols
Background & Verification
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including PA PATCH search (required for PA facilities)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education verification (official transcript acceptable)
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting results within 12 months of start (required for PA placements)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start (required for PA placements)
- Work history verification as applicable
- Two professional references within 2 years of start
Additional Information
- First-time travelers accepted with appropriate experience
- Scrubs provided
- Orientation modules (~6 hours) assigned and must be completed prior to orientation
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 1 year of start; must score 80% or higher
- Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Safety Manual and pass/fail testing required
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Trauma experience
