Description
Registered Nurse – MS Telemetry
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (non-negotiable)
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, must float within scope to meet facility needs
- Unit: New telemetry unit, currently 10 beds open, staffed with 2 RNs and 1 tech per shift
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: No cost
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital with 286 staffed beds
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, with experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Local candidates accepted within 60 miles radius (at a reduced rate)
- Block schedule accommodation possible with prior approval (not guaranteed)
- 24/7 house supervisor coverage; no off-shift management scheduled but leadership available by phone
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses
- Facility-Specific Documents:
- Job description acknowledgment prior to start
- Completion of orientation modules (approx. 2 hours) before orientation; must be done on a computer, not a phone
- First Day Instructions and OurDay modules must be completed before starting; failure to complete results in being sent home
- Radiation Badge: Not required for this position
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; low titers require boosters
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive history, chest x-ray documentation required
- Drug Screen: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations; documentation must be uploaded by December 5 deadline
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use; questionnaire completed virtually prior to start
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
