Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing (Float Pool)
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 48 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for managing care of intermediate/step-down patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient readiness to learn and developmental factors affecting learning.
• Use patient education materials relevant to the population served.
• Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in care plan revisions.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
• Consult appropriate resources for complex care issues and discharge planning.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care promotion.
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Recognize and synthesize complex assessment data to determine care priorities.
• Develop relationships with families to support patient advocacy.
• Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
• Engage in professional growth activities and intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
• Stay aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in Intermediate Care and Stepdown units
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Knowledge of NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school
