Description
Registered Nurse (Medical/Surgical/Telemetry) - Night Shift
Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Night Shift)
Estimated Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week, with possible overtime
Job Overview
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Deliver high-quality care to adult patient populations including Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, and Telemetry.
- Positions available on Medical Surgical and Telemetry units.
- Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to work on the Telemetry/Med Surg unit.
- May be required to float occasionally to nearby campuses.
- While not part of a regular call rotation, may be placed on call during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive onsite within one hour.
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records on a similar unit within the last 12 months is required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience.
- Recent experience (within the last year) in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Professional license verification (primary source) within 30 days of start.
- Background check including SS trace and county search for last 7 years.
- Drug screen (9-panel, excluding THC) within 30 days of start.
- Health and immunization documentation including:
- Influenza vaccine (or declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted)
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
- Tdap (valid for 10 years; declination accepted)
- TB test (negative test within past 2 years or documentation if prior positive)
- Fit test for approved respirators completed prior to start.
- Annual NIH certification (American Heart Association, Apex Innovations, AACME, or Relias).
- Completion of facility-specific skills checklist within 12 months.
- Verification of education and professional references (2 references required, including 1 supervisor).
- Driver’s license or state ID current and valid.
- Completion of facility-required attestations and acknowledgments (e.g., Epic registration, I-9 attestation).
- Color vision test within 1 year.
- Completion of state-required adult and child abuse training.
- Other facility-specific background screenings and compliance checks within 30 days of start.

- The assignment is a long-term travel position with a 13-week contract length.
- Night shift hours are from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
- The role requires flexibility to float to other nearby campuses as needed.
