    Description

    Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

    Location: Burlingame, California
    Contract Length: 13 weeks
    Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend
    Hours per Week: 36


    Job Description

    • Float coverage required across ICU, Step-Down ICU (SDICU), Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical units on the inpatient side.
    • No on-call requirement.

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid RN license in California.
    • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
    • Minimum 4 years of Critical Care Float experience, including within the last year.
    • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience.
    • Certifications:
      • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
      • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

    Background and Compliance Requirements

    • 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable.
    • Education verification required; BSN preferred but not mandatory.
    • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work.
    • TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2-step PPD testing with annual renewal.
    • Immunizations and/or titers required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
      • Hepatitis B series or declination
      • Varicella
      • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
    • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually; PAPR training required if fit test failed (religious exemptions considered case-by-case).
    • Respiratory safety clearance required annually.
    • Color vision exam by licensed healthcare provider prior to start.

    Competency and Testing

    • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for Telemetry units.
    • ICU and Med Surg/Telemetry RNs at certain locations required to take an onsite EKG exam after start.

    Documentation and Orientation

    • Passport-style photo required for badge.
    • Must review and sign facility-specific documents including:
      • Job description
      • Standards of business conduct
      • Confidentiality agreement
      • Vendor training and code of conduct (updated for 2024 and 2025)
      • Overpayment refund policy
      • TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider (MD, PA, NP/APN, DO, or RN)
      • Conditional offer of employment attestation prior to start
    • Religious accommodation forms required for exemptions related to facial hair or vaccines (Tdap, MMR, Varicella).

    Employment History and References

    • Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps; must include city and state of employment.
    • Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
    • Two professional references required for clinical and allied acute care candidates (within 3 years).
