RN - Step Down
Job Overview
- Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
- Employment type: Travel

- Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Weekly hours: 36 or 48 hours, as selected on submission form
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Float: May float as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
- 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown experience
- BLS certification from AHA only
- ACLS certification from AHA only
- Inpatient experience only
- Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for travelers from November 1 to April 1; declinations are not accepted
Preferred Qualifications
- NIHSS certification
Unit Details
- 32 beds
- Typical patient ratio: 1:3–1:4
- Equipment includes chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAPs
- Patient population includes post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomies, respiratory failure, and chest pain
Schedule Notes
- Night shift orientation is on day shift
- Traveler must be available for the entire week of orientation
- RTO of 5 days or less must be made up on the back end
- Only 1 holiday RTO request per assignment
Work Environment
- Team-oriented environment
- Physical demands include standing and walking most of the time, frequent bending/stooping, and lifting/turning patients with assistance
- Exposure to blood and body fluids
- May require pushing, pulling, and gripping up to 50 lbs
Dress Code
- All black scrubs with logo on top
- No hoodies, jackets without logo, t-shirts, open-toed shoes, earbuds, or fake nails
