RN - Step Down

Location

  • Saint Louis, Missouri

Job Type

  • Travel
  • Night shift, 19:00–07:30
  • 36 or 48 guaranteed hours per week
  • 13-week assignment

Unit Details

  • Stepdown unit
  • 10 beds
  • Patient ratio: 1:3–4
  • May float within the cardiac stepdown, surgical stepdown, and medical stepdown service line
  • Patient population includes neurological disorders, strokes, trauma, post-trauma, surgical interventions, and medical comorbidities

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Stepdown experience within the last year
  • 1 year of stepdown experience
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • BLS certification from AHA
  • ACLS certification from AHA

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • Every other weekend required
  • No call
  • Night shift orientation occurs on day shift, and the traveler must be available for the entire week of orientation
  • RTO of 5 days or less must be made up on the back end
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request per assignment

Clinical Environment

  • Uses EPIC
  • High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Physical demands include standing and walking most of the time, bending, stooping, lifting and turning patients with assistance, and pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs

Preferred Experience

  • Neuro experience
  • Trauma experience

Additional Requirement

  • Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1; declinations are not accepted
