Description
Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Attleboro, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Work on a 10-bed Telemetry Observation unit focused on ruling out various medical diagnoses; occasional overflow surgical patients.
- Typical patient stay: 24 to 48 hours.
- No medication drips involved.
- Must be able to function autonomously with strong telemetry experience.
- Night shift: 4 shifts of 12 hours each (19:00 - 7:30).
- Weekend requirement: 2-3 weekend shifts within 6 weeks (Saturday/Sunday).
- On-call requirement: 5-6 night shifts on-call (22:00-07:00) within 6 weeks.
- Floating within scope to Medical/Surgical Telemetry units may be required.
- Locals accepted.
- Block scheduling accommodations determined by unit needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Facility & Work Environment
- Acute Care Hospital with 127 staffed beds.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Scrub policy: Any color scrubs allowed (no jeans); OR/PACU scrubs provided; Case Management business casual or scrubs.
- Free parking available in unrestricted spaces or nearby lot.
Hours & Scheduling
- Guaranteed hours:
- 36 hours for 3 twelve-hour shifts.
- 48 hours for 4 twelve-hour shifts.
- 40 hours for shifts less than 12 hours.
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Massachusetts Statewide CORI background check required and must be completed prior to start.
- Standard background check within 1 year of start, including 7-year county searches, nationwide sex offender check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks.
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all travelers in Massachusetts.
- Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (minimum 9-panel; marijuana testing not required).
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
- N95 fit test within last 6 months (specific approved mask models required).
- Immunization and health document requirements include:
- Tdap vaccine after age 18, then Td every 10 years (medical exemptions require documentation).
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility guidelines.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via titer or vaccination (declinations not accepted).
- Hepatitis B immunity or signed declination accepted.
- Varicella immunity via titer or vaccination (declinations not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (September - April); medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case.
- COVID-19 vaccine required; exemptions only accepted with signed medical or religious documentation.
Additional Requirements
- Age-specific competency exam required.
- Badge photo (passport style, head and shoulders with plain background) must be submitted 2 weeks prior to start.
- Completion of facility-specific compliance checklists and questionnaires prior to start, including latex allergy and COVID exemption forms if applicable.
- Two professional references required within 3 years of hire.
Notes
- First-time travel nurses must have 2-3 years of experience plus Epic or Cerner experience.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Finalized Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included with submission; no changes allowed after signing.
