Radiation Therapist
Location
Detroit, Michigan
Contract
13 weeks
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
- No weekends
- No on-call
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Michigan
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience
- ARRT (T)
- BLS
- Radiation Therapist experience
Preferred
- Experience with Varian and Aria
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient prescriptions and treatment plans
- Position patients using immobilization devices and treatment accessories
- Operate treatment equipment, including linear accelerator and HDR
- Administer prescribed ionizing radiation
- Verify radiation prescriptions and document treatment details in patient charts
- Perform daily patient marking and ongoing imaging per department policy
- Assist with simulation duties and rotate through treatment areas
- Maintain therapy rooms, linens, and medical supplies
- Follow quality assurance procedures
- Support and teach radiation therapy students as needed
Work Conditions
- May involve lifting patients and equipment up to 50 lbs
- Potential exposure to radiation
- Frequent interaction with emotionally distressed and critically ill patients
