Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• CPI
• NIHSS
• 4 years of ED - Emergency Department experience
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• Recent ER experience in acute care facility

Job Responsibilities

• Assess patients on admission and reassess health needs as needed and at least every shift
• Develop, review, and update plans of care
• Administer medications and evaluate their effects
• Perform treatments and procedures using appropriate nursing practice, policy, sterile technique, standard precautions, and patient privacy
• Document patient care, responses, teaching, and progress toward goals
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs
• Interpret diagnostic data and communicate changes in patient condition to the care team
• Use SBAR for handoffs
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning
• Manage restraints per policy
• Follow patient safety, infection control, blood transfusion, disaster, and chain-of-command policies
• Complete ED-specific orientation and skills checklist
• Provide care across the age continuum from birth to geriatric patients
• Safely administer high-risk medications in the ED
• Understand ED patient flow, admission/discharge processes, and documentation requirements
