Description
Wound and Ostomy RN
Location
Brooklyn, New York
Schedule
- Days
- 5x8
- 40 hours per week
- May occasionally include holiday and/or weekend hours
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Role Summary
Provide direct and indirect inpatient nursing care for patients with wound and ostomy needs, including assessments, interventions, evaluations, dressing changes, VAC device assistance, pressure injury management, patient/family education, and participation in quality improvement and clinician education related to wound and skin care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Intermediate Care experience within the last year
- 1 year of Intermediate Care experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Wound Care Certificate
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Pressure injury experience
- Wound Care experience
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing
- Wound and Ostomy certification
- Hands-on experience with pressure injuries
Key Responsibilities
- Perform wound and ostomy nursing care in the hospital setting
- Assess patients through interview, observation, and physical examination
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans with the multidisciplinary team
- Document patient responses and progress toward outcomes
- Provide patient and family teaching, including discharge education
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare disciplines
- Support quality improvement and clinician education activities related to wounds and skin care
