CT Scan Technologist

Location

  • Edison, New Jersey

Contract

  • 11 weeks
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
  • Holidays required
  • No on-call

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in New Jersey
  • 2 years of CT Technologist experience
  • CT Technologist experience within the last year
  • ARRT (R)
  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program and high school diploma or equivalent
  • GE Equipment experience
  • Fuji PACS experience
  • Experience with Epic
  • Willingness to work in dual modalities (X-ray and CT)

Required Skills

  • Perform complex CT procedures
  • Review and obtain patient clinical history for procedures
  • Prepare, screen, and review contrast questionnaires
  • Identify and/or administer contrast media as prescribed
  • Verify exam appropriateness and clarify prescriptions when needed
  • Obtain outside studies and schedule them so they are available for comparison
  • Evaluate radiographs using PACS
  • Gather relevant information from the medical record and care team for scanning and patient safety
  • Determine whether the patient is appropriately prepared for the procedure
  • Prep patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization devices
  • Determine appropriate type and dose of contrast
  • Explain procedures and address patient questions and concerns
  • Perform venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions during the procedure

Additional Requirements

  • Maintain CEU credits
  • Must achieve ARRT (CT) certification within 12 months of hire
  • Must achieve American Heart Association BLS certification within 3 months of hire
  • Scheduled shifts include weekends and holidays
  • Overtime as needed
  • On-call assignments as needed per department policy
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs, push and pull at least 50 lbs, and stand at least 6 hours per day
  • Must be able to communicate with patients, parents, and/or caregivers at an appropriate level for their needs
