Cardiovascular Surgical Tech

Overview

• Role: Cardiovascular Surgical Tech
• Location: Neptune, New Jersey
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 3 x 12
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Required as needed
• On-call: After 90 days
• Float: No float requirement
• Scrubs: Provided

Required Qualifications

• CVOR Technologist experience within the last year
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Cardiac OR
• Ability to scrub in cardiac surgery
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program or appropriate training program
• Surgical Technician Certificate
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• CABG experience
• MVR/AVR experience
• Minimally invasive cardiac surgery experience
• Surgical Technologist experience

Preferred Qualifications

• CABG
• MVR/AVR
• Minimally invasive cardiac surgery
• Aneurysms
• ECMO/Impella
• Lead extractions

Role Details

• Responsible for cleaning and handling instruments, maintaining updated records, and following standard policies
• Handles specimens according to O.R. policy and procedures
• Controls contamination and supports decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment
• Maintains count of sponges, needles, and instruments, and labels medications according to policy
• Participates in team conference to plan care and evaluate effectiveness of patient care
• Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 400 lbs., and stands for the length of the shift
