ICU RN

Overview

• Travel contract for experienced ICU nurses in Woodland, California.
• 13-week contract.
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.
• First to float to sister facilities and the MedSurg unit at Woodland.

Required Qualifications

• Active CA RN license.
• 2 years of ICU experience.
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• PALS
• Able to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Must complete the Relias Dys exam within 24-48 hours before acceptance.

Unit Details

• ICU unit with 8 beds.
• Ratios: 1:1-2.
• Cerner EMR.
• Charge nurse generally does not take patients but does provide break relief.
• Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictates.
• Vents: Yes.
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house.
• RT 24/7.
• Pharmacy 24/7.
• Report is at the bedside.
• Floor orientation is 1-2 days with a preceptor.
• Primarily medical ICU patients.

Schedule and Staffing

• Every other weekend.
• Holidays rotate with core staff.
• Self-scheduling is used, but schedules are not finalized until the manager balances them.
• OT and extra shifts are available.
• Block scheduling is generally not available.

Floating

• May float to sister facilities.
• May float to the MedSurg unit at Woodland.
• Mid-shift float to another facility is rare but can happen.

Additional Notes

• Navy scrubs required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black.
• Scrub jackets, if worn, must be navy.
• PACU is adjacent to ICU.
